Had to be on the phone early this morning, but made it down around 8:15. Glassy head high waves and a warming trend for the water. Wore a 3/2 for the first time this year. Whoo hoo!
Friday 29OCT2010. I pulled up to this, nobody out. Couldn't get my wetsuit on fast enough.
There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

Last Saturday - May 25th
I completely forgot to post over the holiday weekend. So here is last Saturday before the windy part of the weekend:
Decided to go a little later on Saturday so as not to freeze my nads off two days in a row (the water was 57⁰ when I checked the Pier stats early in morning). It was a good call cuz the off shore wind died and it got glassy. The sun was out and the air was warm which made up for the cold water temp. Had a blast and hung around on the beach till i got good and warm. By the time I got home it was cloudy, cool and onshore, which was perfect for an afternoon soccer game in Santa Margarita. Timing is everything.

Finally
After a week of really bad morning winds we finally had a crisp clean morning. Waves were head high and fun. While I only caught a handful of waves a couple of them were gems. FYI - the water was a freezing 57⁰.

Yesterday
Rode down at 10:30. The wind was starting to get on it by the time I paddled out but it was nice to get back in the water. It rained almost the whole time. I really only caught two decent waves. The first one and the last one. Pretty rusty after almost 3 weeks of no surfing. Plus I put on a few pounds in Georgia. Back in control and working it off as fast as I can. It's tougher the older you get.
Steam on the blacktop after the sun came out. |
