There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

The Ocean Has Flatlined

But that’s OK.  It gives us time to enjoy our families, time to rest and recover from minor injuries/ailments,  time to get caught up with work, salivate over the latest issue of your favorite surf rag and time to initiate equipment repairs.   So take advantage of the time and stay in shape cuz:

Decisions Decisions

Get caught up on work or go play in the small stuff.   Buoys weren't to impressive this morning and I have a bunch of stuff piling up on my desk.  So I went to work super early to get caught up.  Looks like there may have been an occasional thigh high wave.....

Sissy Boys

Rode down early and looked at it for 30 minutes before just giving up.   Air was in the mid 30’s and I knew the water was back down to 56°.  It was mostly thigh high with a single belly high set wave in half an hour.  So I turned around to go to work.  Saw Henning at the trees and decided to take a second look with him, just in case.  Dave showed up a couple of minutes later.  Henning went for it since he missed last week’s awesomeness, but Dave and I wussed out.  Henning said he got a couple of small down the line waves but that we definitely made the right call.

Snapped this pic as I was walking away - waist high, maybe

Stupid Wind

Yesterday was a mini-windfest and today I had business commitments.  Just checked Surfline and it didn't look all that great this morning, however nobody was out.  Actually, I wasn't going to go on Sunday anyway as we had two little munchkins spending the night who require one on one supervision by both MiMi and Pop :-)

A Little Fat

The tide was doin' it's thing this morning, but the set waves were still pushing through it pretty well. I sat a little wide and waited for those sets.  I performed a perfect 10 donkey on one of my first waves.  I got a good ribbing for it.   But as the morning progressed I think I saw just about everyone do one.  The in between waves were gutless which was a big part of the problem.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

A Few Gems This Rainy Morning

A little bit of bump on it from the overnight wind and the tide wasn't doing us any favors either.   But I did manage to snag a few keepers into the bay.   More crowded than the last six sessions (10 people) but I’m pretty spoiled now.  I love winter.

Red Sky In The Morning, Sailor's Warning

That rhyme is the Sailor’s rule of thumb for an approaching storm for over 2,000 years.
I'm glad I had my A game with me today cuz it was good and uncrowded again!  I got too tired though, surfed from dawn till 10:00.  From 9:00 - 10:00 I was by myself!  When I got out there was no one around except Kayo was putting on his wetsuit as fast as he could.  I left him with this, not a soul in the water:

Surreal Morning

Shoulder to head high, a little inconsistent, but when the sets came it was perfection.   Only a handful of takers on this brisk morning.  I forgot my gloves again but really didn’t need them; the water seemed to have warmed up a little. If you had planned to go this morning and decided to sleep in instead, don’t look at these pictures:

Sixty Minutes

That’s all the time I had.   Paddled out at the crack with Nick, who was riding a new 5’8” McCallum (sick).   Exited at 7:25.  Waves were a bit inconsistent,  belly to shoulder high and pretty calm winds.   Still colder than a Witch's tit in a brass bra. Caught five waves, took some quick pictures and boogied to work.
