There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

3 1/2 Hours

I rarely do sessions over 2 1/2 hours.  Today was an exception, I had the day off, the waves were super fun, water was warm and the crowd was light.

40 Years???

June 29th 1974: two 19 year old kids got married. And they said it wouldn't last.
Unfortunately, my camera battery expired after I took my first picture of the estuary. So I will torture you and substitute with pictures from my wedding:

My Mother in law asked me to get a haircut for the wedding. So I got about 10" cut off. Not exactly what she had envisioned. But long hair was very important to me at the time; not so much these days.

Me and my surf buddies (Don't think any of them surf anymore)
KiKi, Denis, Jim, Me, Bill and Desmond.
My brothers Hank in the back and Mark to the far right.

Stupid Wind

I could feel the bad wind coming through the window this morning at 4:30. I didn't even check, just rolled over and went back to sleep.

Smaller, Cleaner and Uncrowded

Today was chest to maybe head high with super warm water. A few lulls but real sets inbetween.  2mm wetsuit was the right call for today's dawn patrol. Stayed way too late, barely made it to my 9:00 meeting on time.

Well, It's Officially Summer

But, where was everybody. Three foot on the buoys and no heavy crowd action? While this steep angled swell isn't the best direction and the south wind didn't make conditions optimal it turned out to be a pretty good morning once the wind backed off and I moved over towards the bay. Repeat after me: "The Bay Is The Way".

Bad To Fair

Started out the morning with a pretty stiff wind out of the south. But by 6:00 it backed off to just a few knots. Waves were still small with an occasional shoulder high set. Not much of crowd which made it kinda fun. Sat inside and groveled for the ones that rolled through. Turned out to be very productive. Caught a thigh high runner so far past the shack and just a few feet from the sand I decided to get out and walk back :)
