What's the etiquette when someone looses their board while not wearing a leash while another slider is paddling out close to the lost board? Ignore it or try to save it from the rocks??
If I' m close by and don't have to go out of my way, I'll pick it up and paddle on it or just hold it depending on the situation, just to be nice. I don't think there is an etiquette. If someone chooses to surf without a leash, that's their choice and they need to accept the consequences , including swimming for their board and risking dings on the rocks.
