The bay was the way |
Friday 29OCT2010. I pulled up to this, nobody out. Couldn't get my wetsuit on fast enough.
There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

Crisp Clean Morning
Had to scrape the ice from the windshield of my car this morning! It was 35˚ at my house and only 38˚ when I parked my car in the lot. Had tears running down my face on the ride down from the cold air. Water was 56˚ and the wind was hard offshore. I was toasty warm in my 4/3 Drylock with integrated hood. Booties and gloves too. Oh the surf, it was chest to maybe head high. Everyone was packed up on the point. Hawaiian Phil and I just hung in the bay trading waves all morning. Pretty tired, need a nap.

Back In The Saddle
Felt good to be back in the water even with all the rubber on. A little rusty too after a 9 day hiatus but who's counting. Pretty fun; nice head high sets with medium crowd. Air at dawn was 40˚, water was 58˚ or so and wind was stiff off shore. Made for taking pictures.

Bad Weather
In more ways than one. Aside from all the rain I also came down with the flu Christmas night during a party. 36 hours of bedrest and I'm back among the living. On top of that my new heated vest that I got for Christmas is defective out of the box. I'm itchin to get back in the water but I think I'll give it another 24 hours. This morning's cam didn't look all that good anyway. Meanwhile, here's a photo of the sunset Christmas night.

Merry Christmas
Saturday we had 50 family members over for Christmas dinner and a gift exchange for the little ones. It was especially great for the youngsters when Santa showed up! It's all about the kids. Prolly won't get back in the water for a couple more days but definitely looking forward to it, since I'm off till Jan 6th! Cheers.

Desperate Times Require Desperate Measures
Air 38˚, water 60˚.
4/3, hood and booties; should have worn gloves too. My hands are still aching. Belly to chest high windswelly soft-shouldered
waves. Only a handful of us in the water which made it nice. Still better than sleeping in.

Objet d'art
Buoy's are flat again, so I took rainy PCH to work today. Stopped along the way in Laguna to take pictures of the local objet d'art.

Not A Total Loss
A few little nuggets for Steve and me. At least I got to try the new Super Spud. 6-0 X 21 X 2 3/4. It's a keeper. If you need a new board go see Hamish, he makes a top notch product.
