There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

Lully Morning

A little too much tide and the wind was all over the place until it finally glassed off.  I caught a few waves sitting outside waiting for the occasional set wave.  But it wasn't till I moved over into the inside bay when I started catching some fun ones.   It took a while before others noticed.  Lucky!  By then I was spent.

Surprise!

Steve's Report

Couldn't make it today but Steve says there were a few corners to be had with only a couple of guys out. South wind not as bad as yesterday.

A Messy Mess

That’s what my granddaughter would say.  Today we had waist high blown out slop, but we went out anyway hoping the wind would lay down like it did yesterday.  But today the wind just got stronger and stronger.  Still managed to snag a few corners and the water was warm, so not a total loss.  I’m ashamed to say it, but I've been out in worse.

2X

Two Thursdays in a row!  My schedule of meetings changed again this week and opened a surf window for Johnny.  When I pulled up into the parking lot there were literally no cars on the street and only Henning’s car in the lot (I saw him riding down as I came off the freeway).  The flag at Carl’s Jr was ESE; that combined with a small S groundswell and a small W windswell made for a pretty fun morning considering there were very few takers.  Probably should have gone to lowers cuz from uppers it looked like no one was out!  That doesn’t happen very often.

Spain Polka?  I can't get used to that.
Why can't we get a good graffiti artist?  This guy sucks!

Disorganized West Windswell

I thought it was going to be a really good morning.  Paddled out at 5:25 and immediately caught a decent left.  Paddled back out and caught a decent right.  Then reality set in.  The waves were all over the place and hard to chase down; at least it wasn’t crowded.  Only ended up with a half dozen respectable waves, plus yesterday’s windfest dropped the water temp substantially.   It started shutting down the last half hour and the west wind was building.   Buzz Kill: I expect the water temp to be in the high 50’s by tomorrow if the NW wind kicks up again today as predicted.  I should have gone yesterday - Henning caught a few chest high waves with warm water and no crowd.   Arrrgggg!

Happy Mother's Day

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31:25-31

Yesterday And Today

Forgot to post yesterday. Actually, it's probably better that I try to forget.  It was sooooo small but Steve and I went out anyway.  As soon as a few people showed up we were outa there.  Today was worse, but breakfast was good.
YESTERDAY:

Man or Dog?

Looks like we got out just in time!
