The Little Bastard |
Friday 29OCT2010. I pulled up to this, nobody out. Couldn't get my wetsuit on fast enough.
There is nothing better than salt in the air and sand in my hair (what's left of it).

Now I've Gone And Done It
Last night while walking one of my dogs I tripped trying to avoid stepping on the little bastard and wasted my ankle. So it looks like I'm out of commission for a week or two and I'll be wearing a lace-up brace for the next 6 months. I hate the doggies!

Smaller Than Yesterday, But Still Fun
Shoulder high waves this am with an occasional head high
set. Still pretty fun but the swell is definitely
dying out. Water and air around 60° with an offshore flow. Steve was back in the water today for the
first time since his back surgery. He
was taking it slow, as he should, and survived the morning without injury. We all should do some blocking for him until
he’s back up to snuff. Welcome back bro!

Not Too Shabby
Today we had shoulder to head high waves, off
shore flow and mild temps. Plenty of
waves for everyone and not too terribly crowded. Got a boatload of waves, even if I did snake
Rich, but it was only once. Honestly,
when I looked over at him he looked like he was going left? I would rather owe him than cheat him :-)

Good And Crowded
Everyone complains about the crowd but today was definitely maximum capacity. Kapalua bay never got this crowded even on the bigger days. My wave count was low, I think I only got a half dozen good waves. Enough whining, water is warming up and looks like more waves for the first part of the week. See you out there. Here's a couple of sequences:

Lumpy And Bumpy
We had a little south wind on our new swell early this
morning, but it pretty much laid down by 7:30. Got a lot of fun ones in the bay early and then got sucked over to the point. Pretty much head high waves
until 7:30 and then some bombs started rolling in. The waves were pretty sectiony on the point;
I’ve got a feeling I should have stayed in the bay.

Time Change
Normally I can’t make it on Thursdays. I have an early conference call with colleagues
in Ireland. But since they don’t change
to daylight savings until the end of the month, it opened a Thursday surf
window for today and next Thursday. Heeehaaaw! We had some inconsistent head high waves
today and a fairly thin crowd. Since the
mornings are starting to warm up I wore a 3/2 and heated vest to compensate for
the 59° water. It’s
nice to finally shed that 4/3!
